Many times friends and colleagues have commented
that under commissioned briefs there is a tendency
for a photographer to be too celebratory and not
always manage to take the record shots as well as
the promotional celebratory ones. It is with these
comments in mind that this selection has been chosen,
but not all of them were taken with that in mind,
some were taken just for the fun of taking them, so
are at the other end of the spectrum

Wall in the church at Durfold, Surrey. Different cultures treat
their walls in different ways, so it can be fascinating to home
in on a wall and look at what it is made of and the care taken
with it. this treatment, known as galleting or sometimes garneting,
is also present in the eighteenth century buildings and corridors
    at Dover Castle in Kent
